Buy social at work!

Social enterprises provide goods and services from corporate gifts to office supplies

Why not bring social enterprises into your supply chain?

It's not just individuals who can buy from social enterprises, more and more businesses and organisations are starting to 'buy social'.

From stationary and corporate gifts to office supplies and designers, there are lots of social enterprises out there that you can buy from. So why not make your budgets go that bit further and procure for good?

For more information, check out Social Enterprise UK's Buy Social Supply Chain Guide

How can my organisation get involved?

Both in the run up to the day and on the day itself, why not encourage your employees to buy social? Check out the social enterprise marketplace for things to buy.

Ask staff to tweet pictures of their social enterprise purchases using the hashtag #SocialSaturday2016.

If your organisation already buys from social enterprises, make sure your fellow employees know. You might even want to invite a social enterprise supplier in to talk to your team.

The Buy Social Corporate Challenge

Led by Social Enterprise UK in partnership with the Cabinet Office and Business in the Community, a number of forward-thinking corporates are opening up their supply chains to the UK’s 70,000 social enterprises. The ambition is to collectively spend £1 billion with social enterprises by 2020.

The founding partners are Interserve, Johnson & Johnson, PwC, RBS Group, Santander, Wates, and Zurich. But we are seeking more businesses, from a diverse range of industries, to take part.

Partners are supported to buy and source from social enterprises - this includes:

  • A review of your supply chain and benchmarking existing social enterprise spend
  • Training for procurement teams
  • Brokerage support
  • Advice and support on how to measuring the impact of your spend with social enterprises, and how to use this in sustainability reporting/bid writing
