A magazine sold on the streets that gives homeless people a chance to earn a legal income.
The Big Issue is a magazine sold by people who are homeless or vulnerably housed as well as those who have been unemployed long-term. Vendors buy copies of the magazine for £1.25 and sell for £2.50. They are working, not begging. Since The Big Issue was launched in 1991 we have helped hundreds of thousands of vulnerable people take control of their lives. We currently work with around 2000 individuals across the UK offering them the opportunity to earn a legitimate income; to ‘help them to help themselves’.
The Big Issue is an irreverent look at news, entertainment and culture, delivering a weekly dose of credibility from the streets. Big news from major players on the world stage, weekly round up of what’s happening in your city, an alternative take on the issues of the day, The Big Issues delivers all of this in a feel good package. Look out for your local vendor and don’t forget to grab your mag on Social Saturday! Try switching that coffee for this great read and know that your £2.50 has been well spent! We believe in Trade not Aid, which is why we always ask you to take your copy of the magazine.
